Buckhead School to Host Talk, Documentary Screening on Dyslexia
Advocates are pushing for the federal government to recognize the learning disorder as a disability.

Morris Brandon Elementary School at 2741 Howell Mill Rd. will host a free screening later this week of a documentary covering the challenges and triumphs faced by dyslexic people, BuckheadView reports.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the school will screen “The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia,” a one-hour documentary created by the son of Hollywood film star Robert Redford. Before and after the documentary, Ellen Hill from The Schenck School will lead discussions on the condition and answer questions from the audience.
Morris Brandon staff hope that the screening and discussion will raise awareness of dyslexia in the Buckhead community, which could create more support for a bill in the United States Congress which would classify dyslexia as a disability requiring special attention and instruction in all public schools.
