Buckhead Split Among Two Congressional Districts

Gingrey and Lewis would represent portions of Buckhead under new map

From Patch Staff Reports

Buckhead would be divided among two congressional districts under new reapportionment maps to be considered by the Georgia Legislature, Atlanta Journal-Constitution political insider Jim Galloway says in his blog.

The new map would give portions of Buckhead to incumbent Phil Gingrey (R-11th District) and Demcorat John Lewis (5th District), who now represents all of Buckhead, Galloway says.

Incumbent Tom Price, whose district was expected to extend into Buckhead, will not represent any Buckhead areas. Galloway in an earlier blog entry said Price would represent part of Buckhead, but later changed his analysis.

Gordon Certain, president of the North Buckhead Civic Association and secretary of the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods, annotated the maps to show which neighborhoods would be covered by which district.Β
