Buckhead Volunteer for Gingrich Hopeful of Top 3 Iowa Finish
Attorney Brad Carver to speak for Gingrich at caucus in Des Moines area
Attorney Brad Carver of Buckhead, one of 30 Georgia volunteers for Newt Gingrichβs campaign in Iowa, said the campaign remains hopeful of a top three finish in the stateβs caucuses Tuesday night.
Carver told Buckhead Patch from Iowa Tuesday afternoon, βitβs going very, very well. Weβve been up here a couple of days and have made a lot of phone calls, trying to reach out to the undecideds.β He said that polls show that 41 percent of Iowaβs Republican voters remained uncommitted headed into the caucuses.
βWeβre hoping for a top three finish,β Carver said. βI tell you, based on my anecdotal evidence, a lot of these undecideds are breaking his way.Β A lot of them see himΒ as a strong candidate in the general eletction.β.

Susan L. Meyers, the Georgia press secretary for Gingrichβs campaign, said in Atlanta that the campaign had a goal of making 100,000 calls a night for Gingrich, who was hurt in Iowa by negativeΒ ads from supporters of front runner Mitt Romney. She said Gingrichβs Georgia volunteers were also going door to door in Iowa to build support forΒ him.
Carver, senior managing director of Hall Booth Smith & Slover government affairs practice, said he will represent Gingrich Tuesday night at a caucus in the greater Des Moines area. Under the caucus format, Caver said, each candidate can have a representative give a three-minute stump speech at a caucus location

The Georgia delegation for Gingrich is the largest, he said, with Texas, Florida and Virginia also having strong representation, he said.
Carver said heβs known Gingrich since 1989, when Carver was a high school student attending the Georgia Governorβ s Honors program and Gingrich spoke to the group.
βI believe passionately,β he said. β I was happy I got the opportunity to come up here.β
He said that the weather in Iowa is even colder than in Atlanta, with a low of 11 Tuesday morning and a high of 19 early Tuesday afternoon. βMan, Iβm cold,β he said. βItβs chilly.β
At Gingrichβs Buckhead headquarters, volunteers were gathering to man phone banks to make calls to Iowa Tuesday evening, a spokesperson said.
