Cameron Turner of the Atlanta Community Food Bank will Speak at Covenant Presbyterian Church Sept. 17
She will address Atlanta's hunger issues and solutions at this free program from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Coffee and dessert are included.
Cameron Turner, senior manager of corporate and foundation relations for the
Atlanta Community Food Bank, will be the first of three speakers comprising Covenant Presbyterian Church’s 2015 Mitchell Speaker Series, “Caring for Our City”. Her free program on Atlanta’s hunger issues and solutions will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 17, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. A complimentary coffee and dessert reception is included. The series is endowed by the Mitchell Women’s Christian Education Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Attendees may park for free on the top deck of the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center parking lot, immediately south of the church, located at 2461 Peachtree Road.
Future speakers include Esther Stokes, president of Stokes Landscape Design, who will speak on the importance, history and future of parks and greenspaces in Atlanta Oct. 15, and Gayla Jamison, producer-director-writer for Lightfoot Films who will show her documentary, “Lives for Sale” on Nov. 19.

For nearly a century, Covenant Presbyterian Church has served the city of Atlanta through its mission of “Equipping the people of God to serve Christ in the world”. The church is a member of Presbyterian Church (USA) and is led by Dr. Ernie Hess, senior pastor, and Dr. Jill Ulrici, associate pastor. Covenant Presbyterian Church opened its doors in downtown Atlanta in 1904 as Harris Presbyterian Church. Today, Covenant is home to a welcoming congregation that seeks, serves and celebrates together. The church boasts a lively youth group, hands-on mission work, a women’s spirituality ministry and a strong music program, as well as offering public lectures, social events, educational opportunities and more. Currently, the church supports numerous organizations including Buckhead Christian Ministry, the Central Night Shelter, ChildSpring International, Habitat for Humanity, The Open Door Community, Earth Covenant Ministry and Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta. Covenant also takes a leadership role in the LaGonave Haiti Partners, a more than 20-year partnership with the Episcopal Church of Haiti.
