Car Stolen From Phipps Plaza Parking Lot Recovered

Police are combing through the vehicle in hopes of finding clues about who stole the car after attacking its owner last week.

Police have found the vehicle that was allegedly stolen from Phipps Plaza’s parking lot by two men who beat and threatened to kill its owner earlier this month.

WSB-TV reports that the silver BMW 5 Series was recovered in Stone Mountain, and that police are now examining the car for any clues that can help them identify the men who perpetrated the crime.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a woman was walking to her car from the Twist Restaurant and Tapas Bar just after midnight on Aug. 4 when she was accosted by two black men in their early 20s.

The two men then proceeded to attack the woman, beating her to the ground while demanding the keys to her 2007 silver BMW 5 Series with Georgia license plate number BLA 8978. One of the assailants allegedly threatened to “f***ing shoot” the woman if she did not comply.

Once they got the woman’s keys and her purse, the two men sped off in the BMW and were last seen heading west on Peachtree Road. The woman was treated for facial injuries at Atlanta Medical Center.
