Covenant Presbyterian Hosts Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle Jan. 27

The Buckhead church hosts Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle for worship at 11 a.m. and a panel discussion afterwards on #metoo/#churchtoo, Jan. 27.

Covenant Presbyterian Church will host Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle, executive presbyter of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery, for worship and a panel discussion afterwards on “Mitchell Sunday”, Jan. 27. She will preach at the 11 a.m. service, followed by a discussion on #metoo/#churchtoo. The event is endowed by the Mitchell Women’s Christian Education Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church and is open to the public, 2461 Peachtree Rd., NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30305, www.covpresatlanta.org.

“We are delighted to welcome Rev. Brooks-Lytle to our church and invite all who are interested to join us for worship and a program on the church’s response to the #metoo movement,” said Rev. Richard Hill, Covenant's senior pastor. “We hope to generate a dialogue on women’s experiences across generations and the response to #metoo.

Rev. Brooks-Lytle is a native of Philadelphia and graduate of Temple University. After working as youth director at Wayne Presbyterian Church, she obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. She currently serves as Executive Presbyter of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery, a supportive network of 92 churches and over 400 clergy, which connects, equips and empowers congregations and people to carry out their missions--especially those objectives particular churches cannot accomplish alone.

Two of the panelists who will join Rev. Brooks-Lytle at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Jan. 27 are Betsy Holland and Rev. Jane Fahey. Representative Holland was recently elected to the Georgia House, District 54. She is the director of culture and engagement for Turner Broadcasting, and previously served as the company’s director of corporate responsibility and civic affairs. She is an active member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, where she serves as a deacon, teaches Sunday School and leads a women's program the focuses on community issues and social justice.

Rev. Jane Fahey was ordained a Presbyterian minister following a distinguished law career, which included clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner and working as a partner at the Atlanta law firm Bondurant Mixson Elmore. Most recently she served as the interim executive director of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery, and previously was pastor at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church.
