New Cooking Series for Charity Kicks Off with Celebrity Guest Steak Shapiro of Atlanta Eats

Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Buckhead, kicks off the new Celebrity Guest cooking series “Davio’s Cooks for Charity” with special guest Steak Shapiro, Radio Personality and host of Atlanta EATS TV.

On Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 Steak will roll up his sleeves and get cooking with Davio’s Chef/Owner Steve DiFillippo where they’ll be serving up one of Steak’s favorite dishes - the American Kobe meatballs all evening long. In addition to Davio’s Atlanta’s full dinner menu, the restaurant will be serving theAmerican Kobe Beef Meatballs, Caciocavallo ($12) and 100 percent of sales from this dish, prepared by Steak himself, will be donated to the The Giving Kitchen.

Steak Shapiro was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts as a fan of two things- food and sports. He moved away from his East Coast hometown to attend Tulane University and fell in love with the city of New Orleans. Soon after college he jumped into the Atlanta radio scene and was promoted to producer of a top show. He then continued his career as a sports broadcaster until his love of food eventually filtered into the career mix. Steak simultaneously founded Atlanta Eats and Bread n Butter Productions in 2012. The former, a premier multimedia company dedicated to capturing the food and dining scene in Atlanta and the latter, the premier provider of dynamic video content when food and dining is a point of distinction. As the host of Atlanta Eats TV show, Steak became known as a tastemaker in Atlanta. His vision, hard work, and contagious on screen personality attracted the involvement of nationally known chefs such as Hugh Acheson and Kevin Gillespie, as well as many James Beard awarded and nominated restaurants throughout the city. Atlanta Eats holds a high standard in the southern culinary world and casts a large social media & digital presence. Bread n Butter Productions has created video content in collaboration with clients such as the Venetian Palazzo Las Vegas, Stella Artois, and Visit South Walton, and worked with celebrity chefs such as Buddy Valastro, Wolfgang Puck, and Mario Batali. Steak’s bold presence in the TV community caught the eye of Food Network, where he was cast as the lead judge for Food Truck Face Off. He worked alongside host Jesse Palmer, and fellow judges Andrew Gruel and Alpana Singh.

The Giving Kitchen was formed as a 501(c)(3) to fill the need for a crisis grant program in the restaurant community — as a way to do for others what the community came together to do for Ryan and Jen Hidinger. The organization provides emergency assistance grants to cover basic living expenses, care-related travel expenses, and funeral expenses for those who meet defined criteria. To help ensure its own sustainability, The Giving Kitchen has a unique hybrid structure as a nonprofit with a for-profit subsidiary. The for-profit subsidiary is Staplehouse — a casual fine- dining restaurant located in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward. 100% of Staplehouse’s net profits will be channeled back to its nonprofit parent, as an ongoing stream of support.
