Buckhead’s OK Cafe will have to wait a few more months to celebrate its recovery from a December fire which gutted the premises, BuckheadView reports.
Initial plans called for the restaurant to be re-opened by May, but the City of Atlanta has apparently placed additional demands on the rebuilding of the property which will force the restaurant to remain shuttered until late summer. OK Cafe co-owner Susan DeRose told BuckheadView that the demands had caused a “long and irritating delay.”

WhatNowAtlanta reported last month that a $1.3 million restoration permit had been filed with the city to repair the restaurant, which suffered extensive damage due to a fire on Dec. 6, 2014. The fire has kept some 100 staff members away from their jobs, but the Buckhead community has rallied behind the displaced workers, offering themtemporary restaurant jobs and setting up a fundraiser which ensured each staff member had enough money to get through the holiday season.
DeRose told BuckheadView that the employees can expect to be paid for their time off when the restaurant re-opens for business.
