Dramatic New Luxury Entrance, Facade to Greet Peachtree Road Patrons at Phipps Plaza

Simon, a global leader in retail real estate, announced today the new year will bring the construction of a striking new entrance and distinctive luxury façade on Peachtree Road at Phipps Plaza, the Southeast’s premier luxury shopping destination located in Atlanta’s fashionable Buckhead district.

Scheduled to be complete in fall 2015, shoppers will instantly notice these improvements, designed to be consistent with the interior renovations to the mall which have been undertaken this year. The entrance will be unique consisting of intricately designed perforated metal panels and glass curtain wall that will be backlit, creating a dynamic gateway to the property both day and night.

Luxury brands at Phipps Plaza include Hugo Boss, Jeffrey, Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue, Versace, Tiffany & Co., and Valentino. Saks Fifth Avenue has recently added Dior, Saint Laurent, and Celineboutiques and expanded the Louis Vuitton boutique.

“The dramatic entrance will befit Phipps Plaza as a luxury shopping landmark,” said Dewayne Herbert, Phipps Plaza’s mall manager. “We are looking forward to seeing this gateway to our property in time for Holiday 2015.”

Interior renovations completed in 2014 included upgraded LED lighting, a complete repainting, new warm wood accents, an updated railing system, luxury soft seating and lounging areas with Wi-Fi connectivity and chargers, upgraded restrooms, and the installation of a hotel-like concierge center. This new announcement also comes on the tails of the removal of the former grand chandelier, which has hung in the mall’s Court of the South since 1992. The grand chandelier was removed to make way for a new lighting installation that will complement Phipps Plaza’s other recent interior makeovers.

Simon has previously announced the addition of a residential project, “Domain at Phipps Plaza,” 319 mid-rise, urban-style luxury residences with a variety of floor plans to be developed with Columbus Realty Partners, Ltd. and a joint venture with Noble Investment Group which will bring the acclaimed AC Hotels by Marriott brand to Phipps Plaza.
