Hat Day and Chocolate Fundraiser for Survivors of Turkey's Earthquake

On October 24, 2011 the city of Van, Turkey, was hit by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. These citizens of Turkey remain in great need. The American Turkish Friendship Council established the Van Earthquake Relief Fund to provide humanitarian aid and to rebuild or repair an educational institution that cannot function due to the earthquake.

The latest statistics of the Van Earthquake are:  over 610 lives have been lost,  more than 4,000 people are injured,  thousands of buildings have collapsed or have been seriously damaged,  45,000 tents have been erected to house over 100,000 homeless people and the temperature at night is regularly dipping below 32 degrees.

To help raise desperately needed funds, on Friday, November 18th Sarah Smith will be selling Turkish chocolate, 3 bars for $1.00. You can ALSO donate $1.00 to wear a hat to school that day.
