Figurative / Animal Sculpture

The focus of the class will be expanding students range of technical skills in figurative sculpture, facilitating open discussion of concepts and ideas and discussing narrative elements in sculpture.  On the first day, teacher Michael Klapthor will cover the beginning building techniques as well as why these techniques are used and what they will mean to the end result.  The second day will cover surface treatment on a piece that is part-way through the firing process.  A slide show will be included to further illustrate the direction of artistic choices and to exhibit final results.
