Founded in 1869, New Hope AME Church is located on land owned by the church since 1872, although the New Hope Camp Ground was located on this land as early as 1869.
Tours at 12-1:30 AND 2:00-3:30pm.
A free presentation on the history of New Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church will be given followed by the tour. The Church will also have a traditional barbecue with sales to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Proceeds from the barbecue benefit the Church.
This event is part of the Atlanta History Center's Phoenix Flies citywide celebration of living landmarks.
