Michele Miksell & Gabriel Benzur

Alan Avery Art Company will hold a reception Friday, September 21, 2012 from 7-10 PM for two exhibitions featuring work by painter Michele Mikesell and photographer Gabriel Benzur. The work will be on view at the gallery through October 27, 2012 during regular gallery hours (Tues-Fri. 10-5, Sat. 11-5).

Michele Miksell's show, Upon the Wheel, is an homage to Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle (1906) about Lithuanian immigrant life in the Chicago meat packing industry. With her continued themes of irony, contradiction and humor, Mikesell also utilizes symbolic storytelling through figurative painting in the tradition of  17th century Dutch painters  With her paintings, Mikesell feels as though she is “speaking to the individual viewer on the subject of the universal human experience and I strive to create individuals and circumstances we can all relate to and stories we’re all interested in.”

In conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography, the gallery is proud to be showing the work of Gabriel Benzer. An internationally acclaimed architectural and interior commercial photographer,  Benzur is a native Atlantan, who has been a photographer for nearly 50 years.
