National Alliance on Mental Illness Basics for Caregivers

NAMI Basics is a 6-week FREE educational course specifically designed for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses.  The NAMI Basics course is taught by two trained facilitators who are the parent of or have been a caregiver to an individual who developed symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 13 years.

They will cover the types and subtypes of major mental illnesses that can develop in childhood and adolescence (ADHD, ODD, CD, Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, OCD and Substance Abuse Disorder).  This course does not cover the autism spectrum disorders, however, they may co-occur with some of these diagnoses.

All instruction materials are FREE to participants.  Sign up in advance.
