UPDATE: Man Killed in Buckhead Wreck

One man was killed in the single-vehicle accident, Atlanta police said.

UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): Atlanta police are revealing more information about the person who was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Buckhead on Monday morning.

Atlanta police spokesman Greg Lyon says that the deceased is a male who appears to be in his 40s. Lyon says the man’s body is being taken by the medical examiner for an autopsy.

Lyon adds that there are no obvious signs that the accident was caused by the weather or a medical condition the driver may have suffered.

“The roads are wet out here but I don’t see any ice,” Lyon says.

The department’s accident investigation team is working to determine the cause of the fatal wreck.

UPDATE (11:30 a.m.): News outlets are arriving at the scene of a fatal one-vehicle wreck which occurred in Buckhead on Monday morning.

Photos tweeted by FOX 5 and WSB-TV depict a gray van with a severely damaged driver side lying off the road. Cross-referencing the images with Google Maps data shows that the wreck occurred at the intersection of Peachtree Road and Andrews Drive, near The Cathedral of St. Philip.

Patch has reached out to Atlanta police for further information on the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY: A person was killed in a car accident in Buckhead on Monday morning, Atlanta police said.

Police department spokesman Greg Lyon told Patch that he was on the way to the accident scene in the 2700 block of Peachtree Road to gather more information, but could confirm that there was a single vehicle accident involving a fatality.
