Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Buckhead Eatery

A popular Buckhead restaurant will be closed for some time following a Sunday morning fire which devastated the building and sent a firefighter to the hospital, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says.

According to the AJC, the blaze at OK Cafe began in a water heater in an upstairs storage space. After staff unsuccessfully fought the flames with fire extinguishers, firefighters were called and the building was evacuated, the AJC reports.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze quickly, the AJC says, but a firefighter was injured during cleanup operations and was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center. The AJC says it has not received word on the firefighter’s condition.
