UPDATE: Identities of Firefighters Injured Battling Buckhead Apartment Blaze Released

UPDATE (2:34 p.m.): The two firefighters who were injured while fighting a fire at a Buckhead apartment complex have been identified by Atlanta Fire Rescue.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Firefighter Spurgeon Putnam fell 20 feet from a roof, and Firefighter Josh Martinson suffered slight burns to his shoulders. Both men operate out of Fire Station 21.

Putnam and Martinson are in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

UPDATE (12:18 p.m.): Two Atlanta Fire Rescue personnel are at Grady Memorial Hospital after they were injured fighting a fire at an apartment complex in Buckhead on Thursday morning.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported during the 12:00 news that one of the injured firefighters fell around 20 feet from a roof or elevated area, and the second firefighter suffered small burns. Both firefighters are in stable condition at Grady.

Firefighters have successfully extinguished the blaze; members of the injured firefighters’ ladder companies have been allowed to leave the scene and support their comrades in the hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY (11:37 a.m.): An Atlanta Fire Rescue firefighter has been injured while on the scene of a fire at an apartment complex in Buckhead on Thursday morning.

According to WSB-TV, the firefighter fell off the roof of The Victoria apartments at 3518 Roswell Rd. Two Atlanta fire stations have responded to a blaze at the apartment complex.

The extent of the firefighter’s injuries are not yet known, and he or she will be taken to the hospital for an evaluation shortly.
