Fort Elected Democratic Caucus Whip

State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-39th District) has been elected Senate Democratic Caucus whip, according to a news release from the caucus.

Fort, who represents part of Buckhead, was voted to the position by acclamation. Sen. Steve Henson (D-Tucker) was elected Democratic Caucus leader in the same vote. Henson, the former whip, replaces Sen. Robert Brown, who resigned to run for mayor of Macon.

During the last legislative session, Fort strongly criticized the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and its parent organization, AdvancED, for placing Atlanta's high schools on accreditation probation.
