Four Ways to have a Happier and Healthier Cat
Here are four ways to have a Happy and Healthy Cat this month, and for years to come.

At Deceased Pet Care, we love all pets: dogs, cats, birds, fish, and even ferrets! Weβve talked about a lot of pet topics over the years, but this month we wanted to focus on one pet in particular: your cat. February is National Cat Health Month, so we wanted to spend a little extra time showing love to our kitty companions. Here are four ways to have a Happy and Healthy Cat this month, and for years to come.
Safe Places
Cats are sensitive creatures. A safe and welcoming home is essential for their emotional and physical health. If they are on edge either from raucous kids, dirty and dangerous environments, or other animals, they are more likely to take part in destructive behavior or have health problems as time goes on.
Goodness In
As our society becomes more aware of quality food and itβs relationship with health, itβs important to draw the same connection to our pets. The food they eat is a direct contributor to not only their immediate but long term health. If at all possible buy organic, low carbohydrate food for your cat.

Occasionally switch it up and give your cat wet food. Your feline friendβs natural state is a tiger-like hunter seeking fresh meat in the wild. Your cat will thank you for the occasional break from tuna flavored corn square.
Keep it Clean
Letβs admit it, cats are clean creaturesβ¦ cleaner than most humans. It is important to keep everything they use as sanitary as possible. Make sure to wash out their water and food bowls at least three times a week. Sometimes itβs easier to use a regular plate or bowl and wash it with your nightly dishes.

If your cat is more inclined to the indoors, make sure you clean the litter box daily. No one wants to use a dirty bathroom, your cat is no different. In fact, if youβre having difficulty getting your cat to use the litter box, check to make sure itβs clean and in a quiet, private place.
Not only will a clean litter box provide a safe, comfortable place to go, it reduced the spread of disease and growth of certain fecal borne bacterias.
An Active Gift
Itβs crazy, but catβs can spend up to twenty hours a day sleeping. But when theyβre not lounging around, soaking up a sun spot, or staring at the neighbors, we need to try and keep our cats active. Play with them, chase a laser pointer, search for catnip goodies, or explore the great outdoors. Avoid obesity at all costs. An active lifestyle, just like in humans leads to endless health benefits both today and for years to come.
There are so many ways to let your cat know they love them, but these four are a great place to start, and an even better way to celebrate National Cat Health Month. At Deceased Pet Care, we want our pets to enjoy each day to the full, and this starts with good health. Do you have any tips for a healthy cat? We couldnβt share them all, but weβd love to hear from you. Let us know! Until next time.
