🌱 4th of July Home Invasion + Atlanta Financial Center Sale

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Buckhead.

Hello, neighbors! It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the Buckhead Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town. Follow along for the latest...

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 94 Low: 76.

Here are the top three stories in and around Buckhead today:

  1. On Jul. 4, a man was shot during a home invasion within his gated community in nearby Sandy Springs. Despite his injuries, he is expected to make a full recovery. There is no information currently available about the suspects or their motives, and they remain at large. (Fox News)
  2. Sumitomo has agreed to sell the Atlanta Financial Center to Nightingale Properties at a substantial loss. In 2016, Sumitomo purchased the 915K square-feet property for $222.5M and has since invested $15M worth of upgrades. The purchaser will raise funds on CrowdStreet to complete the $182M purchase of the complex. (Globe St.)
  3. Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights led a pro-choice rally throughout Atlanta on Jul. 4. This rally, and protests like it across the country, were spurned by Roe v. Wade recently being overturned by the Supreme Court. Monday's rally began at the Midtown MARTA station and traveled to Peachtree Street during The Peachtree Road Race.
