Fulton County Sends Corrected Tax Notices
Appeal deadline July 26 for those sent new notices

Fulton County has sent out corrected tax assessment notices to about 240,000 property owners, including many in Buckhead.
Those who received corrected tax notices have until July 26 to file an appeal to challenge appraised property values listed on the assessment notices, according to a news release from the county.Β
Fulton residents who did not receive a corrected notice have until June 21, Tuesday, to file the appeal, the county said.Β

Because of a computer glitch, incorrect notices were sent to many property owners in the city of Atlanta, requiring the second batch of corrected notices to be sent out.Β
Corrected notices were sent toΒ AtlantaΒ property owners impacted by a formula error in their property tax estimates, the county said in a news release. In addition, property owners in Alpharetta,Β College Park,Β East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville,Β Milton, Palmetto,Β Roswell andΒ Union CityΒ also were sent corrected notices because a city property tax line was omitted from the property tax estimates on the initial notices.Β

Property owners can file an appeal to challenge the appraised property value listed on the assessment notice, the county said. The property tax amount listed on the notice is an estimate and cannot serve as the basis for an appeal. Β
