The Atlanta Mayorβs Youth Scholarship Program was launched in 2005 with the goal of making sure money doesnβt keep the cityβs promising young men and women from poorer backgrounds from earning college degrees. The program offers up to $5,000 in scholarships per semester or up to $10,000 per academic year for covering the costs of unmet student obligations.
Since the program was launched, it has helped some 3,000 Atlanta students with their college financial needs. Last year, the program granted qualified students an average of $7,529.
