Garden Hills Elementary School PTA to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Successful "Bricks for Kids" Campaign

The GHES PTA invites the community to join us on the Rumson Road pathway to celebrate our "Bricks For Kids" Campaign on 9/13 at 3:00 pm.

School is back in session and the halls are echoing with laughter and excitement! We are thrilled to celebrate the newly-laid bricks on our popular pedestrian pathway linking GHES and AIS to the Garden Hills neighborhood on Rumson Road. The GHES PTA invites the community to join us for refreshments on the pathway to celebrate our successful “Bricks For Kids” Campaign at the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 3:00-5:00 pm.

Many of our families enjoy walking to school through beautiful Garden Hills, using the pedestrian pathway at Rumson Road to reach the campus. In 2006, the first initiative to design a path that celebrates and honors the heritage of our neighborhood elementary school raised monies that have been invested right back into the children at the school. Now we are celebrating another successful campaign, and are thrilled by the community support ranging from our GHES families, to the Atlanta International School, neighbors, and local businesses. All proceeds benefit the school’s educational programs as well as the maintenance of the walkway and surrounding landscaping.

GHES has much to celebrate. Garden Hills was the first public elementary school in Georgia to receive certification in the highly-acclaimed and world-renowned International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. In fact, the schools in North Atlanta are the only public schools in Georgia to offer the fully-articulated International Baccalaureate K-12 educational model. This year, Garden Hills continues its long-standing tradition of pioneering progressive world practices in education as we embark on a Dual Language Immersion curriculum at the school. Two classrooms full of bright, energetic kindergartners are the first to begin an education immersed in both English and Spanish!
