UPDATE: Northside Drive Reopened After Gas Leak

UPDATE (6:30 p.m.): GDOT has completed the repair work on the Northside Drive gas leak and has reopened all lanes of traffic.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:30 p.m.): A gas line has been punctured at the intersection of Northside Drive and Arden Road on Friday afternoon, causing a part of Northside Drive to be closed due to a gas leak.

According to GDOT, their contractors hit the gas line at approximately 2:15 p.m., starting the leak. The leak has closed the northbound and southbound lanes of Northside Drive in the immediate vicinity of the leak.

“Motorist should avoid travel in this area. Motorist already in the area traveling northbound can make a left or right turn on Arden Road. Motorist traveling southbound can make a U-turn on Northside Drive,” GDOT said.

The situation will not be resolved before 5:15 p.m., GDOT said.
