Super Tuesday GA Results: Clinton Projected Winner In Democratic Primary

Georgia voters took to the polls to decide between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Hillary Clinton appeared poised to add a second Southern victory to her Democratic primary tally on Tuesday, with multiple outlets projecting her as the winner in Georgia.

The Associated Press and CNN both were among the outlets that projected a Clinton victory immediately after polls closed in Georgia at 7 p.m. Those projections were based on exit polling.

The Peach State is part of the historic SEC primary. Georgia, along with Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia, are all holding their primaries on the same day in an effort led by Secretary of State Brian Kemp to give the South a greater say in choosing both parties’ White House candidates.

A total of 117 delegates are available in Georgia’s Democratic primary.

Voter turnout was reported to be steady throughout the day, with no major problems reported at most precincts.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s office says a record number of 417,491 ballots were cast in early voting totals through Friday, Feb. 26. The previous record was 271,418, set back in 2008.
