Handcrafted Homes, Inc. Wins Three Remodeling Awards for Buckhead Home

Handcrafted Homes, Inc., an Atlanta-based remodeling company, has won three awards for a terrace-level remodeling project in Buckhead. The transformation of a little-used area into beautiful multi-purpose space was recently honored by Professional Remodeler with a regional Chrysalis Award in the Basement Remodel category, and by the National Association for the Remodeling Industry (NARI) with a local and regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) award in the Basement Remodel over $100,000 category.

“This was an exceptional remodeling opportunity for our team,” said Judy Mozen, president of Handcrafted Homes, Inc. “The homeowners had a clear vision of how they wanted to use the space and how they wanted to incorporate special touches that were unique to their family. We worked in partnership with them to bring their vision to life.”

The homeowners wanted to create a casual entertainment area on the lower level of the house where all members of the family could enjoy themselves, both together and separately. Handcrafted Homes, Inc. brought together a team of experts including a designer, decorators, craftsmen and a landscape architect to create the desired space and ensure it was seamlessly integrated with the rest of the home and the outdoor areas.

“The central space features a custom bar with a TV mounted above and a game table, and from here you can see both the media room and the mahogany wine cellar that’s tucked under the open stairs,” said Mozen. “Behind the bar we’ve built in a sink, dishwasher, ice maker and refrigerator. Full-height cabinets flank the marble work area and provide ample storage for inside and outside entertainment. There are unique finishes and design elements throughout that have special meaning to our clients such as the custom cabinets crafted from walnut grown on their farm.”

Ken Kanline, director of the Chrysalis Awards, said “To win an award in this highly competitive category is quite an achievement.” The home was featured last year on the NARI Atlanta Tour of Remodeled Homes and was a popular stop for the tour attendees.
