Atlanta City Council to hear views Tuesday

The Atlanta City Council on Tuesday will hold a hearing on legislation to allow voters to . Buckhead council representative Yolanda Adrean is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

An unscientific Buckhead Patch poll shows overwhelming support for Sunday alcohol sales. Out of 69 readers participating, 68, 98 percent, said they support Sunday alcohol sales, and only one was opposed. You can still participate in the poll, at the bottom of this article.

If approved, the local ordinance would call on city voters to decide on Sunday alcohol sales in a Nov. 8 referendum. The ballot already includes the Atlanta School Board's request to extend a 1 cent sales tax and a special election to fill the vacant school board District 2 seat, outside of Buckhead.

The council is holding a public hearing on the Sunday alcohol sales proposal during its 1 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Atlanta City Hall, Council Chamber (second floor), 55 Trinity Ave.
