High School Teams to Conclude Regular Season

Westminster, North Atlanta boys play for regional tournament seedings

Buckhead's high school basketball teams play their final regular season games this weekend, with some seeking higher seedings in next week's regional tournaments.

At Atlanta International School, hoops fever is raging as the AIS boys take a six-game winning streak into a home game tonight against Pace, the sixth rated A school in the state. The girls' game begins at 6 p.m., with the boys game at 7:30 p.m. With "buzzer beater" three point specialist Rogier ten Lohuis, the Eagles are dreaming of an upset, with Pace playing No. 3 Whitefield Academy at home Saturday.

Westminster travels to Therrell, with the Westminster boys in a position to place second or third in subregion B of Region 6-AA, boys coach Tray Malloy said. If Blessed Trinity loses against subregion leader South Atlanta tonight, and Westminster beats Therrell, the Wildcats will finish second in the subregion, receiving a bye in the regional tournament. With the bye, they would play the winner of the game between  subregion A's third-seeded team and Subregion B's sixth seeded team.

North Atlanta's boys play northside rival North Springs at home tonight. With a win, the Warriors will clinch fourth place in their subregion, with a chance of finishing third depending on how Druid Hills finishes. The action begins at 5:30 p.m. with the girls' game.

Lovett's girls take a seven-game winning streak into the regular season finale, hosting Jackson at 5:30 p.m..The Lady Lions are hoping to end their regular season region schedule unblemished. But even with a Lovett loss, the Lady Lions have clinched a No. 1 seed for the Region 6-AA tournament.
