How to Replace a 90-Year-Old Buckhead Bridge

That's the topic of a meeting Tuesday night.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation is holding a public forum on Tuesday night on its place to replace the Northside Drive bridge over Peachtree Creek.

The open house will take place from 4-7 pm on March 1 at the Northside United Methodist Church.

The proposed project will replace the bridge built in 1926. The new bridge will consist of three 10-foot lanes. The western side of the bridge will have a 2-foot shoulder, a 4-foot bike lane, and a 5 Β½-foot sidewalk. The eastern side of the bridge will consist of a 5-foot shoulder and a 10-foot multi-use path. The path will connect to the existing path at Atlanta Memorial Park, the Peachtree Creek Trail, and the proposed multi-use path along Bobby Jones Golf Course. Attendees can also decide if they prefer an off-site detour or an on-site detour.
