ICYMI: Buckhead Restaurant Fails Health Inspection

Management has apologized to customers and said that it has since improved conditions at the restaurant.

Buckhead breakfast seekers may be wary of visiting a local Waffle House after the establishment received a health inspection score of 60 last week.

According to records on file with the Fulton County Department of Health, the inspector touring the restaurant at 2581 Piedmont Road on March 6 never saw an employee wash his or her hands during the time she was there. Furthermore, the inspector noted saran wrap stored next to chemicals, raw ham stored next to cheese and above deli meat, an ice scoop and a jacket left in the ice machine, clogged drains, a wide open back door, and the presence of insects, rodents, or other animals.

The full inspection report can be read here.

Waffle House corporate management told WSB-TV that the failing score was unacceptable, and said that it was sorry that conditions in the restaurant were so unsanitary. The company said that it has since fixed all the problems noted by the inspector, and restaurant employees are receiving additional food safety training.

No re-inspection date has been noted on the March 6 inspection form.
