ICYMI: Suspect in 2001 Metro Area Murder Arrested With Help From Atlanta PD

man suspected of involvement in a 2001 murder in Cobb County has finally been put behind bars with the assistance of the Atlanta Police Department, the FBI announced Thursday.

Noy Siharah, aka James Siharah, aka “Loonie” was captured in Ellenwood on Thursday by Atlanta police and FBI agents. The 33-year-old hails from the Fresno/San Jose, CA, area, according to the FBI.

Siharah was wanted in connection to the May 12, 2001 killing of Somkid Phoumichit inside a Marietta apartment complex. The FBI said that one of the suspects in the gang-related shooting opened fire on the apartment with an assault rifle when he couldn’t find any rival gang members to attack; two bullets from that weapon struck Phoumichit and killed him almost instantly.

The other seven suspects in the case are facing felony murder charges in Cobb County, but Siharah had been considered a fugitive until his capture on Thursday.

Siharah is now in the Cobb County jail facing charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Siharah is presumed innocent of all charges against him until proven guilty in a court of law.
