Irish Ambassador to Speak Here for Opening of New Consulate
Michael Collins to appear with Fed president
Michael Collins, Irish ambassador to the United States, will speak in Buckhead this week as part of a two-day celebration of the opening of a new Irish consulate in Atlanta.
Collins and Dennis P. Lockhart, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will join in conversation Thursday at the Ritz-Carlton. The event, Β part of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta Ambassadors Luncheon Series, begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration, with the luncheon at noon.
They will discuss how Ireland is managing its financial crisis within the Eurozone context and the role that Irish-U.S. trade can play in its recovery, according to a news release. Ireland is to hold a general election on Feb.25.

The new Irish consulate in Atlanta, to be based in Buckhead, is the first established by the country since 1933.
There is a $55 charge for the luncheon, and preregistration is required. The World Affairs Council of Atlanta is a nonpartisan organization affiliated with Georgia State University, the J. Mack Robinson College of Business and the World Affairs Councils of America.
