J. Ashley Sawyer Named Partner at Hedgepeth, Heredia, & Rieder

Recognized as a "Rising Star" in the area of Family Law by Super Lawyers and Atlanta magazine

J. Ashley Sawyer has been named a Partner with Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder (HHR), an Atlanta family law firm. She joined the firm in 2014.

β€œAshley’s advancement to partner reflects the excellence she consistently brings to serving our clients,” said HHR Managing Partner Hannibal Heredia. β€œShe’s been a leader both in the legal community and for our firm.”

Sawyer is a former chairman of the Young Lawyers Family Law Committee of the State Bar of Georgia. During her tenure as chairman, she received an award for Outstanding Service to the Profession from the State Bar of Georgia for her successful leadership of the committee and fundraising efforts benefiting the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. Sawyer currently serves as the Treasurer for the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association and has chaired the section’s annual β€œBrews for Tunes” event which raises money for local non-profit,The Atlanta Music Project.

Her list of other professional accolades and accomplishments includes:

  • Graduate of the Young Lawyers Leadership Academy of the State Bar of Georgia
  • Recognized as a β€œRising Star” in the area of Family Law by Super Lawyers and Atlanta magazine
  • Recognized as a Top 10 Family Lawyer Under 40 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys

She is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. Within the Atlanta Bar Association, Sawyer is a member of the Family Law, Council of Younger Lawyers and Women in the Profession Sections. Within the State Bar of Georgia, she is a member of the Family Law and Young Lawyers Sections.

Before joining HHR, Sawyer practiced family law in the metro-Atlanta area. She also worked as the Staff Attorney to the Honorable C. LaTain Kell of the Superior Court of Cobb County.

Sawyer received her JD from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 2008. While there, she was a member of the Moot Court Board, was selected by her professors to serve as a Caruthers Fellow for the 1L legal writing program, and volunteered at local elementary schools teaching introductory legal principles.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications and Minor in Mass Communications.

A Marietta native, Sawyer now lives in Smyrna with her husband, David, who is also an Atlanta attorney.
