🌱 Lack Of Sidewalks A Concern Of Buckhead Students Who Walk To School

Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. North Atlanta High School Principal Curtis Douglas and more than 700 other individuals have signed a petition in support of the installation of sidewalks on Northside Parkway in front of North Atlanta High School. A relatively new high school, North Atlanta High opened its current location in 2013, however, provisions for the installation of sidewalks was not included in its $147 million budget. According to the Atlanta Department of Transportation, the budget for the sidewalk between Post Riverside development and Mt. Paran Road is estimated to be 3.8 million. (Free: MDJ Online)
  2. The Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods will meet on October 13th, 2022 @ 6:45 PM at the Piedmont Center Auditorium at Building 14, 3535 Piedmont Road, NE. There is sufficient parking and easy access to the auditorium for guests. The meeting will be in-person only and attendees are asked to RSVP in advance online. (Free: Buckhead Council)
  3. North Atlanta High School will attempt to use Extended Learning Time (ELT) to improve the test scores of students, whereby 20 extra minutes are allocated every Wednesday on test practice. The goal of the program is to increase the grades of students with an end of course exam (EOC) such as Biology, Algebra, American Literature, or U.S. History. (Free: The Warrior Wire)

  • The Buckhead Branch of the Fulton County Library System started their "Hello Fall" 10-day long scavenger hunt on Wednesday. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM from September 26th through October 8th. Feel free to register for a library card if you have not yet done so.   • The Gallerie 88 Design House Opening Night Celebration is this Friday, September 30th. Pre-reception will start at 6:00 PM and the performance will begin at 8:00 PM.
