Landscape Designer Esther Stokes to Speak Oct. 15 at Buckhead's Covenant Presbyterian Church

Esther Stokes will speak about Atlanta's greenspaces as part of Covenant Presbyterian Church's free "Caring for our City" speaker series.

Covenant Presbyterian Church (www.covenantpresbyterian.us) will present the second free program of its 2015 Mitchell Speaker Series, “Caring for Our City”, Thursday evening, Oct. 15, 2015. Landscape Designer Esther Stokes will discuss the importance, history and future of Atlanta’s parks and greenspaces in the church’s Fellowship Hall from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The evening is funded by the Mitchell Women’s Christian Education Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church and includes a complimentary coffee and dessert reception. Attendees may park for free on the top deck of the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center parking lot, immediately south of the church, located at 2461 Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

Esther Stokes is President of Stokes Landscape Design, and has been involved with a number of Atlanta non-profit parks and greenspace organizations for nearly 20 years. She has served as Chair of the Board of the Piedmont Park Conservancy and Park Pride, and also serves on the boards of the Historic Fourth Ward Park Conservancy, the Georgia Advisory Board of the Trust for Public Land and the Atlanta Audubon Society.

Covenant also takes a leadership role in the LaGonave Haiti Partners, a more than 20-year partnership with the Episcopal Church of Haiti.
