Buckhead civic leaders were at Chastain Park on Friday to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new, 6.5 acre playground designed to get children of all age groups interacting with one another and learning about the world around them.
BuckheadView reports that βPlay Chastainβ will cost some $2.8 million and is slated for completion by December. The playground will serve some 85,000 children within 5 miles of the Buckhead park. Reporter Newspapers said in April of 2014 that the play area will be segmented into different βplay podsβ based on age group, ranging from safe pods for the youngest of children to more adventurous pods featuring zip lines, a treehouse, and racing slides.

Play Chastain officials are hoping to raise $500,000 to pay for the remainder of park construction; donations as low as $6.25 are being accepted, and donors can choose to direct their donation to a specific piece of equipment meant for the new playground, BuckheadView says.
