Legendary Buckhead Bakery One Step Closer to Demolition

Plans are to replace Henri's Bakery with a 12-story apartment and retail tower.

ATLANTA, GA -- Henri’s Bakery will soon fall to the wrecking ball to make room for a 12-story retail and residential tower, if developers have their way.

The plans were unveiled Tuesday night during a neighborhood planning unit meeting, according to Curbed Atlanta.

The longtime local bakery sits on Irby Avenue, one block off West Paces Ferry Road near the Buckhead triangle.

Alliance Residential wants to build 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground, topped off by 275 apartments, according to Buckhead View.

The company is seeking a rezoning of the property.

Henri’s Bakery’s website says the developer plans to incorporate the store into the new development. The store dates back to 1929, and the Buckhead location is the bakery’s fifth.
