Lindsey Authors Bill to Fight Human Trafficking
Legislation toughens penalties for trafficking for sexual servitude

House Majority Whip Ed Lindsey (R-54th District) has introduced a bill targeting those involved in human trafficking for sexual servitude.
The legislation, House Bill 200, would increase the penalties for individuals found guilty of human trafficking and gives law enforcement and prosecutors new tools to combat the crime, according to a news release. Lindsey represents Buckhead.
The bill clarifies the definition of sexual servitude and expands Georgia's forfeiture law to allow its use to combat sexual trafficking. The legislation also increases the penalties for anyone promoting underage prostitution. It also gives victims a path out of their servitude.
