Live Hand Grenade Leads to Evacuations in Buckhead

While details are scarce, police say the grenade will be safely disposed of.

Few details have been released in a bomb scare that occurred yesterday in N. Buckhead and led to the evacuation of three apartment buildings.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that a live hand grenade was found on the 4500 block of Wieuca Road NE around 4:20 p.m., leading to the evacuations. The Atlanta Police Bomb Squad responded and took possession of the item.

A police officer told the AJC that "the item will be rendered safe and disposed of."
