The Lovett School Welcomes New Assistant Head of School for External Affairs

The Lovett School announces that Stewart Lathan has joined its leadership team as Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, responsible for the oversight of communications, development, alumni relations, and the school’s involvement with the Breakthrough Atlanta program. The move marks Lathan’s return to Lovett, where she served as Associate Director of Development from 1997 to 2002.

“Stewart knows and greatly appreciates Lovett’s unwavering commitment to the whole child,” said Lovett’s headmaster, Billy Peebles. “We are excited to welcome her back to Lovett and look forward to her involvement in many dimensions of school life.”

A native Atlantan, Lathan has more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit and independent school worlds, beginning her career at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., followed by a role on the corporate services team for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. She led development programs at Paideia School and two independent schools in England before her position as Head of Development at Atlanta International School from 2009 to 2015, where she coordinated very successful capital and annual campaigns.

"I'm thrilled to rejoin this community of students, parents, faculty, staff, and alums, many of whom have been involved with Lovett for many generations and many years," said Lathan. "Their ongoing loyalty is a testament to the strength of the Lovett experience as well as their confidence in the school's exceptionally bright future."

Lathan graduated from The Westminster Schools in Atlanta and earned a B.A. in Art History from Davidson College. She and her husband have three children and live in Buckhead.
