Man Charged With Killing Attorney On Busy Atlanta Street

Trinh Hong Huynh was fatally shot on Peachtree Street during the early morning hours of Monday, April 3.

ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta police have charged a Roswell man in connection to the murder of a lawyer Monday morning in the heart of Midtown.

Raylon Browning, 39, has been charged with felony murder in the shooting death of Trinh Hong Huynh, the agency said Tuesday.

He's also charged with two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing two victims on Sunday, April 2 at 1180 West Peachtree Street.

Atlanta police say the aggravated assault charges are what led police to Browning as the suspect in Huynh's murder. Arrest warrants were issued Monday evening and Browning was taken into custody in Cobb County following a traffic stop.

During a search of the vehicle, Cobb police found a weapon that police say is a "preliminary match" in Huynh's shooting. They also recovered a hooded sweatshirt that matched what Browning was wearing while captured on video during the shooting.

When he was arrested in Cobb County, Browning was still wearing shorts and tennis shoes that were consistent with what was seen in the video, Atlanta police added.

According to previous reports, the victim was shot several times as she crossed Peachtree Street near Peachtree Place around 7:10 a.m.

The detective who was investigating the April 2 stabbings saw the similarities between a photo he had of Browning and the Crime Stopper video that Atlanta police provided to local media on Monday.

He notified the agency's homicide detectives Tuesday. Police also received a credible tip from Crime Stoppers Atlanta that identified Browning as the person on surveillance cameras.

“This is a case where the system worked," Darryl Tolleson, deputy chief of the Criminal Investigations Division. "We had good inter-agency cooperation with Cobb County, followed by sound police work by our investigators and detectives that allowed us to connect the dots and make this arrest."

Homicide detectives will continue to investigate this case for motives and possible relationship to the victim.

According to the Daily Report, Huyhn was an in-house attorney with Sandy Springs-based UPS.

Fulton County Jail records show Browning was booked into the facility Tuesday. He remains held without bond.
