Torrance Hambrick, 20, was among a group of men who approached a woman behind the wheel of a car stopped at the intersection of Peachtree and Roxboro roads on March 18, 2013. Initially asking the woman for a ride, the men then forced their way into the car and forced the woman to drive around Buckhead, the DA’s Office said.
At one point when the vehicle was stopped, one of the men in the car put a gun to the woman’s head, while another put a ski mask over her face and forced her into the back seat with Hambrick and Willie Tims. Hambrick and Tims took turns raping the woman, the DA’s Office said.

Two weeks after the incident, Tims called the victim and texted her a picture. Police used this information to arrest him. Tims soon gave up Hambrick, but he was laying low and police did not arrest him until July 2014. DNA recovered from the scene was matched to Hambrick.
According to the DA’s Office, Hambrick pleaded guilty to rape, aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle and weapons offenses on March 5 and received a life sentence. Tims was sentenced in May of 2014 to two consecutive life terms plus 70 years. A third man, Steven Brown, pleaded guilty in June 2014 and received a 30 year sentence.
