MARTA Service Interrupted in Buckhead During Search for Bank Robber

The man got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and changed clothes in the bushes nearby immediately after making his getaway.

MARTA temporarily suspended operations at the Lenox station after police had reason to believe that a Midtown bank robbery suspect was in the area.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a person believed to be responsible for the heist was spotted on foot in the Lenox Square Mall area. The sighting prompted MARTA to shut down Lenox station to allow Atlanta police to look for the suspect.

A ”person of interest” was arrested at the Lindbergh MARTA station, the AJC said. Service resumed after his arrest.

The suspect allegedly walked into the SunTrust at 740 W. Peachtree St. just before noon and presented the teller with a demand note. After he left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, he changed clothes in some nearby bushes to complete his escape.
