More than 150 attendees expected at Buckhead for Bernie debate watching party
Supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders are kicking off debate season with watch parties throughout the metro Atlanta area. The first debate will be broadcast by CNN on Tues. Oct. 13, at 8:30 p.m. Buckhead for Bernie, an independent group of supporters of Bernie Sanders for President, has organized one of the largest socials at Fadó Irish Pub. Currently, more than 150 people are registered to attend the event, including some influential local politicians.
“The original goal for this event was 30 attendees,” says Eleanor Cheatham, the organizer of the social at Fado. “With 150 expected and counting, this event has already surpassed our projections.”

The Buckhead for Bernie social is one of 3,800 debate watch parties across the country. Attendees of the social are encouraged to engage in positive dialogue and participate in upcoming volunteer efforts, which will include a voter registration campaign. The first 15 attendees will receive free Bernie Sanders gear. Guests will tweet about the event using the #DebateWithBernie hashtag.
