A new Buckhead pedestrian and cyclist trail along Ga. 400 has just opened its first phase, but is already receiving love from local organizations.

BuckheadView reports that the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition gave PATH400 a prestigious Blinkie Award as the organization’s favorite new bike trail of 2014 during its annual awards show earlier this month. Denise Starling of Livable Buckhead accepted the award on behalf of her organization, the Buckhead Community Improvement District, and the PATH Foundation.

PATH400’s first phase was opened to the public in January, with a ribbon cutting and other festivities marking the big day. Phase I of the trail spans between Lenox and Old Ivy roads.

Patch reported in 2013 that this phase of the project was slated to cost around $2 million, with the entire project coming in anywhere between $12 and $14 million. Once complete, the PATH400 trail will wend its way from Loridans Drive south to the Atlanta Beltline’s Peachtree Creek spur trail.
