New Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Atlanta

Buckhead residents could be dealing with snow, sleet, and freezing rain over the weekend.

The National Weather Service has more bad news for Atlanta.

The service issued another Winter Weather Advisory on Thursday, stating that the metro Atlanta area, including the city itself, could be in for snow, sleet, and freezing rain this weekend.

According to the advisory, accumulations of up to one inch of snow and one-tenth inch of ice could be possible in the area between 1 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. The advisory says that snowfall would likely begin Friday night, followed by sleet and freezing rain overnight and into Saturday.

In Buckhead, the National Weather Service predicts a 40 percent chance of freezing rain, sleet and snow before 11 p.m. on Friday, with sleet and rain continuing overnight. Friday’s low will be 29.

On Saturday, the forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of sleet or freezing rain until 7 a.m., then a chance of freezing rain between 7 and 10 a.m. A slight chance of rain will persist after 10 a.m., but the temperature will be approaching the predicted high of 46.
