The Lady Warriors more than doubled their win total from the previous season, finishing the 2013 season with an 11-9 record.

For the first time in five years, the North Atlanta High School Lady Warrior softball team earned a spot in the regional playoffs. Playing a demanding schedule in Region 6AAAAA, the Lady Warriors more than doubled their win total from the previous season, finishing the 2013 season with an 11-9 record.

What makes the 2013 accomplishments more remarkable is the youth of the club, which only had one senior and a starting line-up that featured five freshmen. Under the steady guidance of coaching staff Lisa Oglesby, Anthony Whatley and Angela Boardman, the team improved throughout the year in all facets of the game culminating in a play-off game against Southwest DeKalb High School.

Due to continued construction at the sports complex at the new campus on Northside Drive, the Lady Warriors lacked a true home-field. As part of a continued community emphasis on building North Atlanta’s sports programs, the new campus will include a modern softball complex.

North Atlanta coach Lisa Oglesby is impressed with how her young squad jelled together as a unit, though she said that there is plenty of room for improvement. Oglesby believes that North Atlanta’s breakthrough season in 2013 is only the first step in a rebuilding process that she is confident will lead the Warriors to bigger and better things in the future.

With the vast majority of the team returning next year, combined with first-class facilities, the North Atlanta Lady Warriors are building a winning program that the community will be proud of.
