Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. Someone was found dead in a Buckhead condominium on Saturday night after police officers responded to a call around 6PM. Authorities are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the cause of death after they found the deceased inside the Lenox Heights-based apartment complex. The deceased was found along Pine Heights Drive off Lenox Road Northeast. (Free: WSB Atlanta)
  2. According to Atlanta Police Zone 2 Commander, Major Ailen Mitchell, crime is down 10% in Buckhead. The Atlanta Police Department stated that although Buckhead often makes headlines, social media exacerbates incidents in the Buckhead community. Major Mitchell also stated that many of the arrestees have been detained before, and that criminals need to know that if they do get arrested, they will remain in jail. (Free: FOX5 Atlanta)
  3. The Atlanta BeltLine will come to Buckhead, and a map of the proposed segment of the northwest trail was recently released. The path will run from close to Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and the Hemphill Water Treatment Park in west midtown. BeltLine officials have not yet stated when work on the project will begin, but that they hope to complete the project by 2030. (Free: MSN)
  4. The historic and near century-old Whispering Pines mansion on Buckhead's West Paces Ferry Road was torn down, despite efforts from residents and preservationists to save it. (Free: Reporter Newspapers)
