Regency Centers was just named one of the nation's "Top Redevelopers" by Chain Store Age for its work at Powers Ferry Square, a shopping center redevelopment located in the Buckhead area, at the intersection of Roswell and Powers Ferry Roads.
Originally built in 1951, then acquired by Regency Centers in 1997, Powers Ferry Square was at risk of losing customers and tenants due to its tired appearance and aged infrastructure. Regency decided to make a big redevelopment investment that would reflect the wants and needs of a modern Atlanta shopping center. The center received an overhaul, both inside and out. The new features include:
- An upgraded facade with red-brick arched colonnades and improved architectural design
- Enhanced architectural features and awnings
- More visible signage for tenants
- Additional green space and improved landscaping
- Existing parking was realigned to improve traffic flow and new spaces were added
- Irrigation controllers and underground detention facilities were installed to improve water quality while generating cost savings
- Two nearby vacant buildings were overhauled into an outparcel, which now houses a Panera Bread and Uncle Maddio's Pizza
