PRSA GEORGIA CHAPTER HOSTS SEMINAR AND LUNCHEON JUNE 24

Learn how to deliver compelling messages and engage diverse consumers

The Public Relations Society of America Georgia Chapter (prsageorgia.org) will host two events on Wednesday, June 24: a morning seminar on delivering compelling messages, then a luncheon featuring Marriott International’s VP of Multicultural Affairs who will share exclusive insight on the global hospitality leader’s distinctive approach to public relations. Both events will be held at Maggiano’s Buckhead in Atlanta.

Knowing one’s audience is the foundation of successful public relations – but in an increasingly diverse world, that’s an ever-greater challenge. Apoorva N. Gandhi, vice president, Multicultural Affairs of Marriott International, Inc., will share insights on gaining cultural competence from Marriott, one of the world’s most well-known hospitality brands.

During the luncheon, Gandhi will show attendees how to engage consumers, connect with employees and build brands through culturally relevant communications.

Pre-Luncheon Seminar: Media Training – How to Deliver Compelling Messages

A spokesperson has only one chance to make a first impression. The most successful are strategic, knowledgeable and succinct – thanks to media training. Seminar participants will learn from Wetherhead Communications founder and president, Debbie Wetherhead, the latest media preparation, agenda setting and key message development tips. The session will also provide interview and control techniques, do’s and don’ts, plus advice for enhancing speaker presence. Participants will receive a workbook with step-by-step formulas that enable spokespeople to gain confidence, take control of the news interview process and seize the opportunity to differentiate a product, service or point of view.

Registration for the seminar begins at 9:15 a.m. and the seminar runs from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Seminar details and registration can be found at prsageorgia.org. Online registration is available until June 23.

PRSA Georgia (prsageorgia.org), the second-largest local chapter in the national society, consists of more than 900 professionals throughout Georgia. Its mission is to enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities for its members. The Chapter hosts regular monthly meetings and seminars, an Annual Conference for professionals and an annual Real World PR collegiate conference day.

The Chapter includes eight Special Interest Groups (Corporate and Employee Communications, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit, Technology, Travel and Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times. It also supports 10 PRSSA (student society) groups at the following colleges: Berry College (Rome), Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta), Columbus State University (Columbus), Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville), Georgia State University (Atlanta), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro), Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw), Savannah State University (Savannah), University of Georgia (Athens), and University of West Georgia (Carrollton).
